Yes | The Gold Ridge Mine is an open pit gold mine on Guadalcanal
Island, which is part of the Solomon Islands. Ross Mining,
operating as Gold Ridge Mining Limited (GRML) operated the
mine from August 1998 before closing due to civil unrest in
Guadalcanal in June 2000. In the Years following the unrest,
the ownership of the Site changed hands on occasion and
some site infrastructure and design work progressed towards
reopening however it remained largely on care and
maintenance. The Operation was acquired by Allied Gold Limited in December 2009. Allied Gold Limited is a publicly listed company on the Australian Stock EXchange (ASX), the Toronto Stock EXchange (TSX) and the London Stock EXchange (AIM). GRML is the operating company registered in the Solomon Islands and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Allied Gold Limited. Allied Gold is currently underway with the refurbishment work at Gold Ridge Mine and it is progressing towards pouring gold in 2011/Q1. |
